"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on our children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
-Deuteronomy 6:5-7
We are proud to be a part of the Zeta Epsilon (ZE) Chapter of the ETA SIGMA ALPHA (ESA) National Home School Honor Society. The mission of the ZE Chapter is to form character and integrity in students in three primary areas: Leadership, Community Service and Scholarship.
ESA is the first honor society established exclusively for homeschooled students. Founded in 1999 by Joanne E. Juren, M.Ed., it has grown into a national organization that now has 221 chartered chapters in 38 states. Juren, a former public school administrator, contacted the NHS with the intent of forming a home school chapter. When told that NHS did not accept home school students, she decided to start a new honor society for homeschoolers. Over the next two years, the idea for Eta Sigma Alpha was refined and the “Alpha” chapter was started in 1999 through the Home Education Partnership of TX.
Our local Zeta Epsilon Chapter was chartered in 2004 and meets monthly at Crossroads United Methodist Church on George Lyles Pkwy, in Concord, NC. We encourage you to attend and look forward to inducting new members.
